A new superbug has emerged and it's not just affecting hospital patients.  The bug is a type of ''Staph A'' bacterial infection which is resistant to antibiotics.  The bug is said to be causing skin infections as well as other illnesses.   Dr. Shelley Buchan is the Medical Officer of Health for the Central Regional Health Authority, she says bacteria is all around us and it's becoming resistant to forms of medication.  If you do become infected Buchan stresses this doesn't mean the virus is not treatable, however the resistance does make it more difficult to treat.
Buchan says washing your hands with soap for at least 10 seconds, not sharing personal items as well as cleaning and covering cuts can go along way in making sure you don't become infected.
