Portage Collegiate Institute has been gifted the Mural Mosaic's Canada Train.

The Mural Mosaic's Canada Train is a book filled with student work from across the country. The book contains 864 paintings celebrating Canada's 150 years.  Jerry and Carole Lupkowski made this donation and similar donations throughout libraries in the Portage la Prairie School Division.

Principal Gregg Waldvogel explains some of the project, itself, was done at the school, with each student doing a tile as well as some dignitaries.

"The book came as a surprise to us," says Waldvogel. "It's a celebration of student work, and some of the students that did that are still here. It gives them recognition and celebrates their achievements."

In the book is a featured mosaic which is displayed in Portage at Stride place on the exterior wall of the Shindleman Aquatic Centre. It is the work of Andrea Smith, many PCI students and citizens of Portage.
