Some long-awaited flood control's finally coming to Moosehorn. RM of Grahamdale Reeve Clifford Halaburda describes the effort taking place right now.

"We're digging a drain from 237 coming south to Janzen Road," says Halaburda. "And the water hitches at Janzen into the Fishline Drain and into Lake Manitoba. There's more to that construction bit, too. There's a retention pond to hold water in case of heavy rain effect, or whatever may be, in winter or summer."

He notes the consulting and engineering firm who put the entire package together is K.G.S., and Fast Brothers Ltd. out of Blumenort's the contractor. Halaburda adds the RM's paying 10% of the total project costing just under $1.3-million in a cost-shared agreement between the RM and Manitoba Infrastructure and Highways. He adds everyone in the region's very happy after so many years of flood problems, and it should be completed around August 15th.

He notes the opportunity arrived, so they took it. Halaburda says Council considers it money well-spent, as do the people living in the area.
