A long-awaited project's nearing completion for the community of Moosehorn, north of Ashern, in the RM of Grahamdale.

The town's dealt with chronic flooding for many years, but a flood protection system's being put in place to mitigate that.

Reeve Clifford Halaburda brings us up to date.

"It's about 90% complete," he says, "If it wasn't for the rainy weather for the last while, there would be a lot more done. They have (PR) 237 closed because there's an upgrade on that, that's part of the diking system, and Janzen Road, to the east of Number 6 is closed for an upgrade as well. That's part of the programming there."

Halaburda says despite the recent wet weather, the contractor's given a timeline for completion.

"I talked to the engineer a week ago," he says, "And the engineer has said to me it'll take another week or two, weather permitting, and it certainly will take another week or two, weather permitting, before this is going to be complete."
