Time flies when you're having fun, and for Mayor Sharilyn Knox, the time has been flying.

Mayor Knox attended the Rotary Club of Portage la Prairie's meeting on March 7th and spoke about her time as Mayor through her first four months. She says she's grateful for the opportunity to step into the role for the city.

"It's been great. There have been lots of exciting things happening in our community," explains Knox. "Council is really working well together and learning about what it takes to govern a city. We're really excited for what's to come."

Knox says the beginning of her tenure as Mayor was a little stressful, despite the fun. She explains that since the election took place on October 26th, she had to start working immediately on Remembrance Day ceremonies and events. After that, the holidays were in full swing.

Mayor Knox adds it's never a dull moment, and she's always looking forward to what's coming next.

"I think my favourite moment was the inauguration and forming our new council," explains Knox. "Knowing that we have individuals that are going to work together over the next four years, and we're going to work on some exciting things."

She notes working alongside her council has been great, as the group comes with many different experiences, which allows them to have a variety of opinions when it comes to the decisions in the community.

The next City Council meeting will be held on March 13th, while the next Rotary Club meeting will be held on March 14th.
