Manitoba truckers meet for 90th time, hold AGM

The Manitoba Trucking Association held their 90th Annual General Meeting in Winnipeg earlier this month.

A spokesperson for the group said in an email, they elected their Board of Directors on April 1st.

"The key issues for the industry from 2021 included trucking as it relates to COVID-19, the driver shortage, and environmental issues.  We have a strong membership who are invested in the industry and association, and we greatly appreciate their contributions – time, industry knowledge and expertise – to the association.  We also appreciate the contributions of stakeholders such as the Province of Manitoba to the association and Manitoba’s trucking industry," says Susan Green, communications manager for the MTA. "For the new year, we will be focusing on the driver shortage and environmental concerns as our two main priorities; however, we will also continue to address issues such as road safety, ELD mandates, Driver Inc, and supply chain shortages."

Doyle Piwniuk, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure spoke at the meeting, as did guest speakers from the Canadian Trucking Alliance and Trucking HR Canada, who gave an update on national issues facing the trucking industry.
