Portage la Prairie RCMP are currently investigating a case of aggravated assault following a stabbing that took place last Saturday.
Police say they responded to the stabbing on October 21, at 4:40 a.m., which occurred outside a residence on 19th Street NW,
The victim, a 42-year-old man from Portage, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police have determined that shortly before the stabbing transpired, there was an altercation between a group of people who were known to each other. The groups dispersed, but later, a man returned to the scene, stabbed the victim and fled. The only description obtained of the male suspect is that he was wearing a facemask, a hoody and baggy clothes.
