In the Mantioba Junior Hockey League last night the Terriers got their regular season underway on the road taking on their Sher-Wood division rivals, the Neepawa Natives.  In a penalty filled game, as refs crack down on the new rules, the Natives drew first blood in the home-and-home series, doubling up the Dogs, 6-3. Scoring for Portage was Dan Campbell and Dan Leslie netted a pair. Highlights for the Natives were a hat-trick from captain Andrew Fisher, 2 markers from Brayden Kolisniak while Brent Davidson added a single.  The Terriers took nearly 25 penalties last night and gave up 4 power play goals. Portage captain, Stan Yanchishyn, says the Terriers know what to expect from the officials in terms of what calls will be made and quite simply need to adapt to the new game, or get a more effective penalty kill unit.  The Terrier offence sputtered at times last night, unable to consistently solve the Neepawa defence. Yanchishyn says the lack of production was due to all the time served in the box, but is confident the offence will find it's way once they get things on track.
