Spring Beautification Days continues in Portage la Prairie as the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation hopes to motivate you to help clean up the city.

Community Engagement Coordinator Lorna Knight says they have put a call out to the community and there has been a very positive response so far.

"City Council did a clean up. We have a number of schools that have done cleanups. PCRC staff was out, and I know that the city also has staff out doing regular clean ups, especially in areas that are really needing some good attention," says Knight. "So, right now, we're just having a big call out to communities. I know the Girl Guides are going to be out doing a clean up. So, anyone who's interested can contact me and I will hook them up with some supplies."

The PCRC has bags and gloves that anyone can get to do their own clean up. Knight says this is huge as more and more trash can be seen as the seasons change.

"The snow melts and garbage that has accumulated or blown against fences in the winter is just there, and it's a bit of an eyesore," says Knight. "It's nice to get everything cleaned up so that Portage just looks nice coming into the spring before we finally get this really nice weather, and before everybody is out using our parks and our walking paths and all the areas of our community that everyone enjoys. It's nice if we can do that garbage-free."

Spring Beautification Days officially runs from May 1st to May 14th. You can e-mail your before and after photos to l.knight@portagecrc.com for a chance to win some prizes.
