The Delta Agricultural Conservation Co-op held its 25th annual dinner and auction last night at Portage's Canad Inns.

A major part of the evening was naming the Conservation Farm Family of the Year. The honour went to Knight Farms.

Brad Knight accepted on behalf of the family, and calls it rewarding, especially because it's from their peers. He notes it indicates they're doing something right in the area of conservation.

His father Jim adds the honour came as a complete surprise. He, too, is grateful for the recognition of his peers, and is proud to share that with his son.

A significant amount of Knight Farms' land is close to Delta Marsh, so they produce a lot of alfalfa and forage crops. Brad notes conservation practices help them produce better crops as well as combat erosion.
