Kennedy Hardinge is not one to get stage fright when it comes to speaking in front of a crowd.

After two years of no in-person meetings, the owner of Kenny's K9 in Portage la Prairie was thrilled to be invited to speak at the Portage Rotary Club's regular meeting last week as their guest speaker.

"I was really excited. I've always been following the Rotary Club on Social Media," says Hardinge. "To be here with the group, and hearing more about what they do, and being a part of it, and just being asked to speak, was just a really cool and exciting experience."

She shared a little bit of information about her business, noting she celebrated five years on April 1st. They continue to do the dog and cat grooming, workshops, classes and so much more. She says business has been much better since restrictions were lifted and it's great that everyone can breathe, adding this new normal is a "breath of fresh air".

"I felt a little more nervous than I normally do when it comes to speaking because it's been so long," says Hardinge. "It was definitely fun. It's just really nice to see people again."

Kenny's K9 has 850 clients in Portage and another 450 in MacGregor. They're based out of Portage but do grooming in both locations, with training based out of MacGregor. She says training is taking off in Gladstone as well.

Their monthly nail clinic is set for this Wednesday. Walk-ins are available but they'd prefer if you made an appointment by calling or texting 204-903-5754. A nail trim is $13 cash and all proceeds will be going toward the Portage Family Resource Centre. It runs from 5 until 7 p.m. In 2021, Kenny's K9 raised over $4,000 for local organizations.
