The holiday season is of particular concern to Canadian Blood Services.

Spokesperson Micheal Hyduk explains they face the challenge of filling the void of regular blood donors who would otherwise be donating on a regular basis.

That's why the organization is reminding Manitobans blood donor clinics are remaining in operation during the holidays.  Hyduk says they've projected a need of over 45 hundred units of blood between December and January, based on previous hospital needs.

And while blood units can be transferred within the country to accommodate high demand areas, Hyduk admits they're always concerned the blood inventory will fall below a comfort level.
