A Portager is making the best of his time in the land of the living skies.

Shawn Green, former Portage Trojan kicker/punter, has completed his first season with the Regina Thunder.

When Green reflects on his first season for the Thunder, he says it was a fantastic one with some even better teammates.

"I got to say thanks to the coaches and the team for being able to trust me, bringing me in this year as a first-year guy, but I'm happy with how the season went for me."

He mentions that although the season ended with a final game loss, making them second in the Prairie Football Conference, the final game against the Saskatoon Hilltops was one to be proud of.

"We had them early on in the game, you know, at the start, but it came down to a few big plays and just fell off near the end and weren't able to hold on."

In the end, the Thunder lost to the Hilltops 21 to 13. The kicker says he is excited to see what will happen next year  —mentioning that he has one goal for his football career.

"Just being able to play the sport I love as long as I can. You know, of course, I want to make it to the next level. But if you can't do that, you want to play the game you love for as long as possible."
