A Manitoba product will taking his brand of hockey south of the border this fall, with the hopes of getting on with a major team.

The Anaheim Ducks announced this week that the National Hockey League club has signed right wing Colby Genoway to a two-year, entry-level contract. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deals were disclosed.

Genoway, played his first professional season with the Hartford Wolfpack of the American Hockey League last season, scoring 61 points with 78 penalty minutes in 77 games. The 22 year old Morden native finished the regular season eighth in the AHL in rookie scoring. In 13 Calder Cup Playoff games last season, Genoway recorded 12 points, finishing tied for third among all AHL rookies in playoff scoring.

The 6-0, 201-pound forward played three seasons at the University of North Dakota in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. In 113 career games with the Fighting Sioux, Genoway registered 81 points. He led North Dakota in points and assists last year with 44 points in 42 games.
