A bid for a Portage la Prairie city councillor position has been made by Colin Doyle for the upcoming election in October.

Doyle says he grew up in Portage and moved away after his graduation, and returned in 2015.

"I have a job here and it's a place I want to raise my family. So, I just want to be a part of making my town the best possible place it could be," says Doyle. "I'm definitely interested in public safety. It seems to be an issue not only in Portage, but that's kind of countrywide right now and that     would be one of my main focuses."

Doyle explains he considered running for a position in the city back in 2018.

"But my wife Cheryl, at the time, had passed away in 2017, so it just wasn't the right time for me. I've recently remarried and I have the support of my amazing wife, Colley-Ann, and I'm ready to ready to go full-steam now," continues Doyle. "I encourage everyone to register to vote. It's the only way you can get your voice heard. If anyone has any questions, feel free to reach out to me and I look forward to the campaign in the upcoming months."

Election day is set for October 26.
