Local goaltender Corinne Schroeder didn't make the cut for Team Canada but is grateful she was able to learn at their training camp. The Elm Creek product attended the development camp put on by the organization at the beginning of this month and says she learned a lot.

"After working with the goalie coaches at Hockey Canada, I always come away with a different perspective on my game and pinpoint different things I can work on," Schroeder explains. "Other than that, I took away a lot of confidence playing with the best players in Canada."

Schroeder notes this wasn't her first time at a Team Canada development camp and says they have helped her improve her game immensely. She says they told her she needs to improve her balance, stick position, and ability to maintain a good position while moving to become the best player she can be.

The goalie will be finishing out her fifth and final year in the NCAA this upcoming year as a member of the Quinnipiac University. Over the past three seasons, Schroeder was at Boston University and had a combined record of 37-15-14 with eight shutouts. The last two full seasons she played Schroeder had a goals-against-average below 2.00 (1.90 and 1.54).

Schroeder describes her goals for her final year in the NCAA.

"You always want to win and I haven't done that yet," says Schroeder. "It would be really good to win the ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) tournament and move on top the Frozen Four or just the top eight. I think that would be a great accomplishment and the team that we'll have here at Quinnipiac next year will be looking pretty good."

Schroeder will begin her last season of collegiate hockey on September 24.
