Snow continued to fall overnight in Portage la Prairie and getting around continues to be very difficult within the community. Many side streets are completely plugged and even Saskatchewan Avenue has its challenges. The worst of it is on the west side of the community. There are a few snowplows out, but for the most part, everything is snow-covered and drifts are everywhere.

The blizzard warning has been downgraded to a winter storm warning and that's because the wind isn't quite as strong as yesterday. We are now, however, dealing with the snow already on the ground, along with 5 to 10 more centimetres expected throughout the day, with 2 to 4 more centimetres expected tonight.

The Trans-Canada Highway is closed at Portage on both the east and west side and from Winnipeg to the Saskatchewan Border. Here are the other highways that are officially closed. For all other roads, travel is not recommended.
