A Portage la Prairie RCMP officer was off-duty on Yellowquill Trail shortly after 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 7th, when he saw a man walking with what he thought was a handgun. He flagged down other RCMP members who were in the area and informed them of the situation. 

30-year-old Teren Pashe of Dakota Tipi First Nation was located nearby and police arrested him. Officers located a loaded BB gun pistol. He was charged with Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Carry Concealed Weapon, and three counts of Failing to Comply with an Order. Pashe was remanded into custody and appeared in court on May 8th.
