A local baseball team is still basking in the glory of their recent success.

Last weekend the Portage Phillies Pee Wee "A" team won Regionals, being held in Morden. The Phillies went undefeated throughout the round robin event scoring victories over Plum Coulee 20-6, Holland 15-9, Cartwright 24-17 and Plum Coulee again in the final this time by a margin of 15-6.

Phillies Coach, Scott Dewis, says that Portage received great pitching in Morden, but it was their bats that put in exemplary work. Dewis admits that he was a little surprised at how well the team hit, especially against some of the tournament's tougher arms. Over a four game average the Phillies scored 15 runs per contest.

Upon their success at Regionals, the Phillies will now move on to Provincials being held in Deloraine July 21-23.
