Portage la Prairie's city manager is excited to see what changes will take place following the municipal election in October.

Nathan Peto says it's been wonderful working with the current council members and feels like they were able to make a lot of progress for the city. He mentions, that even though his position isn't an elected one, he can't wait to continue serving the city.

"The city manager position serves at the pleasure of the council, it is the only employee directly attributable to the council," explains Peto, "my contract does extend into the next council mandate and I'm looking forward to seeing who comes forward and is elected."

Peto began working with the City of Portage in 2017, a year before the current city council was sworn in. Before coming here, he spent time working with the City of Brandon as the deputy city clerk.

"Those who are departing after a lot of years of dedicated service to the community, on behalf of the administration, I thank them for their commitment to the community," mentions Peto. "I look forward to seeing who comes in as our new council and I look forward to working with them to make Portage a better place to live, work, and play."

The municipal election will take place on October 26th.
