Local celebrities will get the chance to share their favourite meals at a venue that the Herman Prior Centre is creating.

Executive director Chris Dumont says they're starting up a celebrity luncheon. It's being held the third Friday of each month.

"We're having a community leader provide us with a recipe much ahead of time, so we could include it in our monthly menu plan," explains Dumont. "Then we would cook that recipe the day of the luncheon. The celebrity person would come and perhaps help serve it, but talk about why it's their favourite recipe."

She notes it won't be something like a fancy steak meal, seeing as the meals for lunchtime need to be affordable.

Dumont says this will give the community leaders another opportunity to be out and around to meet the people, while at the same time promoting the centre's luncheon program. She adds the luncheon is open for everybody at the affordable price of $8.00, but you have to pre-register by 10:00 a.m. at the latest. Dumont says they'd prefer you notify them a couple of days beforehand.

"We are also looking at compiling these recipes and having a cookbook available," continues Dumont. "We just think it would be a fun way to spice up the luncheon. The first date that we're looking at is September 20th. We don't know if we would be doing it in the summer months. That would depend on community response."
