An area hockey club recently wrapped up their season, and now the team's Head Coach is offering his thoughts on the past year.

Reg Klassen is the bench boss for the Pembina Valley Ice Cats, a girls 12 and under summer league team. He says the Ice Cats enjoyed much success this season, which started in April, in that they won two tournaments, garnered a consolation finish in another and in their final tournament in Fargo, they didn't win the consolation or the championship but he feels they played outstanding hockey. All their success aside, Klassen says that the purpose of the team is geared toward development. He notes that practices emphasized skill development, playmaking and with that Klassen feels those initiatives were as important as doing well at competitions.

Klassen notes he's proud of the fact that the Ice Cats organization stuck to their convictions in recruiting players from the Pembina Valley region adding many players made great strides and have improved immensely. A number of area athletes were members of this year's Ice Cats team.
