"There were several highlights, for sure."

That's how RM of Cartier Reeve Dale Fossay sums up 2017. He says one was something that wasn't a specific project by the RM, but was initiated by the citizens of St. Eustache.

"Particularly the Manitoba Metis (Federation) local unit there," he says, "Over the past year, they put together a monument, reflecting all the names of those who served in various wars that Canada served in. And the monument was presented to the public on Remembrance Day, along with the Remembrance Day ceremony."

Fossay adds two important infrastructure projects were undertaken in 2017 as well.

"We were able to expand our rural water lines by 40 miles," he says, "Bringing potable water to 45 homes. And the other one would be the re-building of the Elie wastewater lagoon. One of the walls had eroded badly from wind action over the years, and with funding from both the federal and provincial levels of government, we were able to get that project done as well."
