A spokesperson with the Canadian Blood Services says a single donation of blood can save up to three lives.

That's why Micheal Hyduk is urging Portagers to respond during the blood donor clinics today and tomorrow.

He points out they've targeted a younger generation for recruitment, to eventually replace an ageing population of existing donors, and ensure a future resource of blood.  Hyduk explains rural area clinics are vital to the organization.

And while he has recently noticed a slight increase of younger donors, Hyduk stresses the need for blood is always there.

For more information you can call 1-800-2-DONATE, the clinics are being held in the Portage Alliance Church.
