Dad was born in the Municipality of North North Folk on November 22, 1927. He lived in McGregor with his parents and siblings till he moved to Portage la Prairie where he met his wife, Elsie. Dad and Mom were married in 1948. The love they shared started growing which created 6 daughters and a large family to follow. Dad often took on the roles providing for his family by cooking, cleaning and getting his daughters ready for school and other events (which many would have considered to be a lot). The most rewarding career Dad had was working at the Manitoba School (Manitoba Development Centre) as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant. After 33 dedicated years of service, he retired at the age of 55. After retirement he was able to focus on many passions.

Growing up, if Dad had it his way he would've lived on the farm where he spent a lot of time helping out as a young boy. He enjoyed helping his Maw and Pop in their garden and selling their veggies. He developed his work ethic at a young age, which he passed down to his passions throughout his life. Dad was an avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing many sports or going on fishing trips with his family and friends. Dad and Mom spent many hours watching their children and grandchildren play sports, not just their family but they were known to watch the local kids to show their support as well. Dad expressed himself through the love of music and words through his song writing and poetry. Thats where a lot of his humor and personality shone. Dad had the talent of playing Guitar, Mouth organ and singing, along with many other instruments. Dad took the time to teach his children and grandchildren how to play, which allowed them later to join him during family gatherings, this would end up being the best memories of his life. He enjoyed a good movie or tv show. He was entertained by his westerns, or his comedy shows (He always had us laughing with him). Dad invested a lot of years into being an owner/trainer of his standard bred horses named Candy and Super Ned. Dad and Mom enjoyed attending the horse races following the Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario Harness Racing circuits. If he wasn't able to be in the grandstands, he would be watching live races in the comfort of his home and he never bet for the favorite, he always chooses the underdog (he exemplified this with his attitude towards people as well). Dad also enjoyed going to the casino with his family. Dad Loved sharing his recipes within his family, through his witty cards that he personalized for each family member. Dad

always made sure you were well fed. He could always whip up a signature snack or dish to which his family continues to make for themselves, but they will never be like Dads.

Dad always lived his life at his own pace, never rushed into anything. He was meticulous, punctual and considerate. Dad showed us every single moment what it is to be a father and a human being.

Dad's caring personality was represented through the words he chose to live by.

"It doesn't hurt to try and be nice to people. Take people for what they are, not what you want them to be." - George Benard Hill

The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff of Portage District General Hosptial for taking care of our dear Father.
