It was a busy year for Manitoba Beef Producers.

General Manager Brian Lemon says they were able to advance of number of policies throughout the year, adding producers are in a better mood than last year thanks in part to the higher prices.

He notes a major focus over the past 12 months was the province's Climate and Green Plan and the carbon tax.

"Early in the year, we put out our six-point policy in terms of, as beef producers, what we thought the province should consider as it rolled out its plans. We're happy to say that some of the things that we were talking about in our policies, did actually end up into the province Climate and Green Plan."

Lemon says the organization would like to see beef producers get recognized for the work they do in helping to sequester carbon.

He notes they still need to see more details from the province before giving their seal of approval to the plan.
