Arthur Frank Devrieze

1935  -  2023

Peacefully, after a long and full life, Arthur Frank Devrieze passed away at MacGregor Personal Care Home on April 2nd, 2023. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy and many friends and relatives. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Jo-Anne (Warren), Darlene (Jamie), grandchildren Shaun (Sara) and Lauren (Ben), great-grandson Riley as well as Dorothy's extended family.  During his very active life Art made friends everywhere he went. His skilled carpentry can be seen all over Manitoba in homes, museums and public spaces. His music brought happiness to so many as he played in numerous groups over the years, entertaining at festivals, halls, dances, care homes, camp grounds and at home with family and friends.

Born in Melita, Art worked and lived on the farm with his Mother, losing his father at a very early age. He married Shirley (Didur) and worked and raised his family in Portage la Prairie for 35 years before moving out into the Austin area building his dream home. He met the love of his life Dorothy McLennan (nee Allanson) and they married. They spent their joyous 28 years together committed to the community and the Austin Museum even living on the museum grounds for several years as resident caretakers. Art never stopped playing music, building things and helping people until he was physically unable to.

Art will be missed so much by so many but we are comforted by the thought that he will once again be playing music and dancing with Dot and all his friends forever.

A special thank you to the care givers at the MacGregor Personal Care Home for their care and kindness during his time there and to his good friend Chris Wintonyk.

A Celebration of Art’s Life will take place on Wednesday April 12, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Clarke’s Funeral Home in MacGregor, with interment to follow at Austin Cemetery.
