The Winnipeg Angels will be looking to fire up the bats and hold strong on defense after dropping their first game in Ontario yesterday.

The Winnipeg Angels, girls 19 and under midget fastball club, which features some local talent, didn't get the start they were looking for at nationals yesterday.

The Angels are in Guelph, Ontario competing against the country's best, and unfortunately in the first game of the tournament yesterday, were dropped 6-1 by Ontario 1.

Portage's, Lana Dubois, who is the club's catcher, says in their inaugural game of the tournament Winnipeg simply fell flat on the sticks, adding Ontario seemed to be hitting all the holes with none of the bounces going the Angels way.

Winnipeg has an opportunity to get on the winning track this morning when they face British Columbia and later this afternoon when they take on Ontario 2.

For today's games, Dubois says Winnipeg will just need to keep their defense solid, and find ways to spark their bats.

There are two pools in the competition and following round robin play the top four clubs from each pool move on to playoffs.
