Portagers have the opportunity to help find a cure for Lou Gehrig's disease.  The ALS Society of Manitoba is holding its fund raising Walk for ALA tomorrow, circling the island in Portage.  Coordinator Kellie Gilbert is optimistic, as she's set up to succeed -- the business community has shown great support.  Several were repeat contributors.  While the obvious goal is to raise funds, Gilbert stresses a donation isn't necessary participate in the walk.  She wants to raise awareness of the disease as it's one that isn't discussed at learned about.  The walk has been prolonged to 5 kilo-metres, registration starts at 11.
