The Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie will be bringing setting up more electronic speed signs in the hopes of keeping drivers under the speed limit.

Reeve Kam Blight says they've seen positive results from the speed signs that are already set up in some of the communities in the RM. He notes they're going to try and get them established as soon as possible.

"We're going to be putting some up in the community of St. Ambroise," explains Blight. "As well as the community of MacDonald, so we'll hopefully have those up as soon as the province of Manitoba approves them."

He adds they've been great for communities that have had them for a while, such as Oakville, Poplar Point, and High Bluff. It's important to note that these signs don't take pictures of those who are going over the speed limit, it simply shows them what speed they're currently going at.

"Right now we decided to keep them right in certain areas of the community," says Blight. "Basically the main drags of all the communities. They're working really well so we'd like to keep them there."

There's currently no timeframe for when the signs will be posted, but it will be as soon as they can.
