Operation Christmas Child returns to Portage today.
It's a program where shoeboxes are filled with gifts for children in third world countries.
Organizers will be at First Baptist Church from 10:30 am on today, with information about the effort. Area Coordinator Sheila Knox thinks it's a good time of year to get people thinking about Operation Christmas Child. She notes back-to-school season compliments their work at this time of year.
Knox adds it's a good idea to get a head start on Operation Christmas Child. She calls it a hands-on project that benefits third world kids.
Portage filled 1800 shoeboxes last year, and this year they hope for 2500.
