Central Plains Cancer Services is holding a concert with Shanneyganock, an Irish/Newfoundland band, and it's in support of the Care for Kids Fighting Cancer Program. The group is claimed to be one of the most Newfoundland-identifiable groups from the Rock.

Executive director Sharilyn Knox says the group's well-known on the east coast and is an East Coast Music Award winner.

"We are thrilled to announce that on May 26th, Shanneyganock is coming to play at the Glesby Centre," notes Knox. "It's a Thursday night. It is going to be lots of fun. They are a very high-energy East Coast band that tells stories and sings lots of great East Coast-influenced music."

Knox explains the program provides funding to families during their entire cancer journey.

"We pay for transportation, accommodation, and sometimes medications," continues Knox. "We just want to make sure that those families who have been faced with a diagnosis for one of their children as these types of things off their plate of worrying about. So, that's what the money goes directly to for this night."

She says tickets are $45 each and the Prairie Fusion Arts & Entertainment website is where to find them.
