Gayle Loewen and her daughter Veronica Leonhardt share their story of a timeless family heirloom passed on through three generations: Alice's wedding dress.

“I got to carry on the tradition and wear my grandma's wedding dress and my mom's wedding dress. Both of them were the youngest in their families and I'm also the youngest in my family, so that was cool that it all lined up,” explains Veronica.

The dress was originally purchased in 1947 for $30 by Gayle's mother, Alice. 70 years later, her dress lives on:

The original dress is pictured on Alice's wedding day in 1947. In 1990, Gayle added beadwork to the bodice and a new headpiece. This summer, a new bodice was created by Anita Kowerchuk of Anita Pulling Thread and the original veil was reworked for Veronica.

Will you keep the dress? "Absolutely," responds Veronica without hesitation.
