The Portage and District Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual gala of Thursday night recognizing some of Portage la Prairie's outstanding businesses. It was a full house at the William Glesby Centre as awards were handed out in 5 different categories throughout the evening.

The Portage Junk Yard Dogs and the Portage & District Terriers both received the Outstanding Not-for-Profit Award.

Spruce Drive Farms took home the Outstanding Contribution to the Community by a Business Award.

Kara Pawlowski and Just Be Wellness Studio & Centre Inc won the Outstanding New Entrepreneur Award.

And Principle Supply pocketed the Outstanding Business of the Year Award.

A new award was also handed out for the outstanding contribution to the community by a newcomer. Oleksandr Hryntsiv received the honour and spoke about how Portage has been a very welcoming place since arriving in the coimmunity nine years ago. Hryntsiv has been instrumental in helping others relocate to the community from Ukraine. While he does miss his home and is unsure of his future, he commented Portage is also a great place to live.

PortageOnline will provide additional coverage from the recipients of the 2022 Portage and District Chamber of Commerce Business Awards in the coming days. Stay tuned!
