Several projects are in the works for the Municipality of North Norfolk during the course of the coming year. Mayor Neil Christoffersen says the regional water program started in their municipality back in 2006 but several years ago they suffered a setback when the feds stepped away from the table. Christoffersen notes this year the federal government has stepped back up in a big way to provide one and a half million dollars, adding as a result North Norfolk will expand the program to another sixty families in 2017. He says having good, potable water is a linchpin for rural Manitoba to keep people in the area, so they're very excited about it. Christoffersen notes council has been working with the Manitoba Water Services Board and they hope to have tenders out early in the new year.

He says another major project on the horizon is the lagoon expansion in Austin. Christoffersen adds their records show the original lagoon was built in the 1980's, so based on the expansion of the town it's definitely time for a new one. He notes the engineering studies have been done and they will be adding another cell to the two cells now in use. Christoffersen adds they're gearing up for the future as well as taking care of the municipality's immediate needs.
