Bingo fever has hit Portage la Prairie as many residents have been itching to get a ticket for Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo.

The weekly televised bingo pot has hit a record high of $640,000. Tickets have been in short supply around the region, and have been selling out within hours of businesses receiving them.

The Portage Supermarket received a shipment of 750 cards, and hordes of people formed a line to get their hands on one.

Rona-lee was lucky enough to secure the first spot in the lineup. Here's her response when we asked her how long she'd be waiting in line.

"Too long! I've been waiting since 4 p.m."

Shawn was one of the last people in the lineup. He talks about his odds of securing a ticket.

"I'm not very hopeful, but I'm going to stay optimistic and wish for the best."

The Portage Supermarket started selling the tickets at 6 p.m. and were sold out of tickets roughly 45 minutes later. They only let a handful of patrons in at a time.

Robyn was one of the lucky people to get her hands on a ticket.

"Good, I hope we win. It's a big pot, and it's hard to find tickets anywhere, so I'm glad these guys have got it," says Robyn. "There's a limit of two tickets, but two's enough to win, so hopefully we win."

Kinsmen Bingo supports charities around Manitoba including Manitoba Special Olympics, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Winnipeg Harvest.

This edition of Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo takes place on February 1, at 5:30.
