The United Way has only reached 47% of their goal to raise $247,500 for their eleven member agencies and with only one month left in the year executive director Mandy Dubois says the donations aren't coming in as quickly she'd like.

She notes they receive donations every day but it's been slower than in past years.

"It always seems to come down to the end for the United Way to get their fundraising dollars but we're still about 15% to 20% behind where we were last year at this time. We haven't made up any ground yet and so I am getting a little worried."

The United Way's goal is directly set from what their eleven member agencies require and Dubois explains the effect of not meeting their goal.

"It's a huge ripple effect if the United Way doesn't make their goal. It affects those eleven member agencies but it also affects thousands of people in our community that access those member agencies."

She adds it can result in things like cuts in programming, less open hours during the week and less training for the staff of the agencies. Dubois encourages anyone considering making a donation to the United Way to do so soon.
