A Portage family is in need of some help following a medical emergency. Tricia MacDonald says her friend and neighbour Troy Adams collapsed at his home on March 22nd, and after he was transported to the hospital doctors found a mass on his brain. MacDonald notes on Saturday Adams was unable to speak and the right side of his body was cold and numb, so he was rushed to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg for immediate brain surgery. She adds the surgeons could only remove part of the tumour at that time because the growth was more involved than they first suspected. MacDonald says Adams is still in HSC while they're waiting to determine what happens next.

She notes Adams is an awesome guy, adding he's a paramedic here in Portage and has always been there to help people out. MacDonald says Adams has two boys at home and his wife Heidi is due to deliver a baby next month, so this emergency has put pressure on the entire family and the situation is quite tense. She notes a Go Fund Me page has been set up as well as a Facebook page in an effort to raise funds, adding right now Heidi and Troy are just trying to cope and they can't even think about how they're going to pay for things like groceries.

MacDonald says she's hoping folks in the Portage area will step up and help relieve some of the financial pressure on this family. She notes an account has been opened at the Austin Credit Union to receive donations for Troy and Heidi Adams. MacDonald says if you'd like more information, you can call Amanda at 204 870 1001. She adds if you can't help out financially, please lift the family up in prayer during this difficult time.
