Portage la Prairie's Terry Fox Run is this weekend. Coordinator Kailee Rutherford took over the event last year and explains why it's important to her.

"Actually, when I was 16 I was diagnosed with the same cancer that Terry Fox had, and cancer and all the Terry Fox run becomes important. Then I guess especially for me with it being the same one, that really hits home for me."

She outlines a few of the details.

"It'll start at 11 a.m. (Sunday). We haven't decided for sure on the distances, but likely we'll do 3 kilometres, 5 kilometres, and 10 kilometres. So then people can decide what they would prefer to run or walk, and afterward, there will be a free barbecue as well."

Rutherford adds everyone's been touched by cancer in some way, and she hopes to see you there.
