A number of teams from around the region are in Portage this weekend for the Portage Cup's second spring minor hockey tournament. Kirby Bateman of Interlake Lightning gives a recap of the first day.

"So far the first day was excellent. This would be the top tournament for our guys so it has the best teams and best facilities so it's definitely the one we want to do good at. "

Bateman notes the variety of restaurants and accommodations have been great for the teams families.

"We are from the Interlake so we do have several parents staying in town. We all just all got back from Boston Pizza and some of the parents will be using the hotel facilities tonight."

Bateman says his team has been working had in preparation for the tournament and is thrilled to be here.
