The 4th annual Stick It to Cancer street hockey tournament takes place today in the PCU Centre parking lot.

Portage Community Coordinator for the Canadian Cancer Society, Jennifer Roy, is hoping for a people to have a lot of fun.

"We have some teams that have played hockey before, we have some rookie teams that are just giving this a whirl, so I'm looking to just have everyone have a great time while supporting the Cancer Society."

Roy notes the number of teams participating this year is down from last year with nine teams registered for the tournament.

She encourages spectators to come out to the event. In addition to the hockey tournament there will also be a Girl Guide cookie drive, consessions, kids activities, entertainment and more.

All proceeds from this event go to the Canadian Cancer Society.
