When the snow finally fell, it hit us in good shape. Environment Canada Meteorologist Natalie Hassell gives us the details of what went down yesterday.

"If we look around Portage we have a couple observation sites that are part of our network, and we have a number of volunteer sites in the close vicinity. It looks like right now this morning you've got about 10cm of snow left on the ground from this event. And this event is the reason you have that 10cm of snow."

Hassell says 15cm fell before temperatures rose to about zero and things started melting. However, she adds, "But as you saw when you experienced this event, temperatures stayed near zero. And the precipitation, therefore, was very close to what we would get near zero. So, it was mixed with rain, snow that fell was very wet and very heavy."
