The United Commercial Travelers of Portage la Prairie made a $750 donation to the BDO Centre today.

UCT Chaplain Alma Pankratz says they appreciate the work the people with the Centennial Community Club do for the community.

"Shane has really to keep this arena going, and if it weren't for this we'd be so short of ice time and space, and now they're even using it for baseball training, we just think it's fantastic. We're giving them a cheque for 750 and that's going to cover the stick racks for in front of all the dressing rooms."

Centennial Community Club President Shane Moffat says a recent issue was brought to his attention that's now been resolved.

"It's one thing, as a group, we didn't really think about. Some parents came to us this year complaining, and when we've got Central Plains' teams in here -- with the midget teams and the girls' teams -- they've got a lot of sticks and it seems one gets bumped and they're all on the floor. So the UCT came up to us and said they'd buy four stick racks for us, so every dressing room will have their own stick rack. So it's a great addition to the BDO Centre, and we've got to thank them a lot for stepping up and not only helping the kids but the community.

UCT Chaplain Alma Pankratz says they were glad to supply the funds for the new stick racks.
