Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Cliff Cullen is celebrating Small business Week in Manitoba.

The MLA for Spruce Woods is busy meeting with business groups this week promoting small businesses and what they do for the province.

“In Manitoba businesses with fewer than 100 people make up 72% of the businesses in our province and that is significant” said Cullen.

He added the government is always looking for ways to improve the business climate. “We are about to announce the red tape and regulatory reduction review. I think this will be a really important step forward for Manitoba businesses.”

The province is encouraging business owners to participate and tell government what limitations are out there that keep businesses from growing in a more efficient manner. “The process will be an ongoing one within government so conditions can be improved to reduce red tape and to reduce the regulatory burden.”

Expanding Sunday shopping is something Cullen says the government is open to looking at because it is something Manitobans have expressed an interest in seeing happen. “I also encourage people to get involved in our pre-budget consultation process by either attending public meetings or participating on-line.
