The RM of Coldwell's dealing with several infrastructure issues, including some that aren't typically common. Reeve Brian Sigfusson outlines their current work.

"We finished our gravel only about a week ago, and we've been doing some drainage work that's been neglected over the years because of flooding. We also stripped our rock quarry to make it ready for drilling and blasting so we can get our limestone for next year. We're also doing more drainage work, and fixing some small road jobs that also needed attention."

He says there's been a flurry of culvert problems.

"We've had a real fierce order of culverts because some of them have been in the ground 40 years. They're just a skeleton there. We've had to replace far more culverts than we normally do. The drains don't work properly, and we have too many reeds in them that need cleaning out. That affects our farmers. The water backs up and takes a new route because it's blocked and not running. And the beaver doesn't help it all either."
