The drones are coming. Not to spy, but for the Unmanned Systems Canada UAV Student Competition this weekend at Southport.

Manager of Business Development Deanna Mitchell explains the details of the event.

"The flying part starts on Saturday Morning at 7 a.m. and goes until about 6 p.m. Saturday. Then on Sunday it starts at about 7a.m. until about 2 p.m. We have 14 teams, and they're all coming from BC to Quebec. So we're looking forward to a good weekend."

Spectators are welcome to stop by and witness the competition either Saturday or Sunday. Mitchell says, "Because you'll be coming out onto the airfield -- you'll have to access through our flight line building. We do have event signs set up, and we'll have somebody there that can escort them out to the airfield, and that's no problem. So any time they're welcome."

People are encouraged to stop by and watch the competition.
