Just over a month after the Bakr family arrived in Portage la Prairie from Syria, another refugee family from that country arrives here some time tomorrow.

That's from John Doloff of the Portage Refugee Coalition.

He says there are a lot of emotions as they bring another family to Portage.

"After waiting so long, it's amazing. Just a lot of excitement, but also adrenalin kicks in because we have a lot things to make sure are arranged, so it's an interesting journey."

Doloff admits there are mixed feelings among Coalition members.

"There's, I think, a sense of joy because this journey has been quite long, to families actually arriving. Also recognizing that now we have to make sure that they are able to adjust to life in Canada. Even with what we've done in Portage, and what Canada has done, there are still lots of people in desperate need."

He's also grateful to the Bakr family, who've committed to meeting the new family.

"We were really pleased that the Bakrs were very determined that they would all go to the airport to greet the new family, so that will be helpful. I think it'll be good they'll be able to be there, and reassure the people that, yes, these strangers from Portage are okay, and you will find a safe place when you arrive in Portage."

The family includes a mother and father, a 15 year old boy, and 11 year old girl, and a 5 year old boy.
