Manitobans are getting ready for the coming winter, and rural municipalities are no exception. Municipality of West-Interlake Reeve Randy Helgason outlines their efforts.

"We're cutting all the grass along the roadsides. If you get a lot of snow in the winter, it just makes it easier for the grader to maintain them. The snow just doesn't pile up as substantially as it would if you didn't."

He shares their progress.

"We're probably about half-done the municipality. They're going and we have two people operating it. It's going seven days a week."

Helgason notes their expected costs. "I would imagine it's probably in the $10,000 range, when you figure all the tractor, man-hours, the fuel -- everything like that."
