Graders will be going full throttle removing snow around the RM of Portage la Prairie today.

CAO Nettie Neudorf says it's been a busy couple of days for their crew, as the RM begins to clean up following the severe winter weather in the region over the past two days.

"The full fleet of five graders (and) the blower at Delta, they're planning on being out today, and they were yesterday," Neudorf explains. "There's a couple of graders and a backhoe that were out doing the local areas, like the paved areas to the Museum, the truck route to McCain Foods and Yellowquill Trail."

She adds operator safety is something they stress.

"The grader operator needs to be able to see the road, needs to see the vehicles, and any obstacles as well. So going in daylight and when the wind is down, that's really when they can do the best job of clearing the snow from the road. If the wind continues to blow, that will diminish the visibility and they won't be able to do a good job on the roads. Plus, safety is a concern for every one."

Keep an eye out for plows in your area and give them some room to work.

Judging by the picture below, they will be busy in the RM of North Norflok as well. This is a picture of Highway 350 South of Macgregor late last night.
