Saturday night's reunion dance at MacGregor's Nor-Mac Centre turned out to be everything organizers hoped it would.

It featured two high school bands from the 1970s combining for a fundraising dance in support of the MacGregor volunteer fire department. The Final Hour and Strange Brew played for about four hours.

Strange Brew's Wayne Klippenstein says supporting the fire department's a partnership that makes sense.

"The whole reunion dance is a step back in time, and to recognize the importance of what the community has done to our lives. And then you look at the current fire department, and the volunteers that are part of that program. This is a generation below us, and they're stepping up and doing their part for the community, and it was a very special partnership."

Volunteer Fire Chief Chris Leckie describes the support from the bands and residents overwhelming.

"We've always had really huge support from our local area to help us with the purchases of some extra equipment that we need. It's really nice to see everybody come out and support us, all the guys on the department are happy with how everybody's helped us out, not just with this event, but over the past few,"

It's expected the reunion will bring in about $5000, once expenses are paid.
